Q2 2026

16 GHP Q2 2026 Cambridgeshire based Omega Diagnostics specialises in a range of tests associated with food sensitivity and gut health. By enabling healthcare professionals and their patients to identify foods that can trigger certain body responses, the company aims to improve long-term health and wellbeing. Omega Diagnostics is our Most Innovative Nutrition & Gut Health Company 2026. We take a look at the company’s offerings in more detail with Marketing Communications Director Jim Herrington. Food sensitivity, sometimes known as food intolerance, occurs when a reaction to a certain food causes digestive issues that result in potentially debilitating symptoms, such as migraines, nausea, and irritable bowel syndrome. Understanding what triggers these responses and how to tailor a diet to ensure optimum nutrition without suffering can be life-changing. Food sensitivity tests that identify food-specific IgG antibodies can be instrumental in identifying problematic foods. A subsidiary of Cambridge Nutritional Sciences Plc, Omega Diagnostics was one of the early pioneers of food sensitivity testing. With over 35 years’ experience in the industry, the company continues to innovate and set new standards in its field. Boasting a team of specialist scientists and nutritionists, Omega Diagnostics is driven by a passion to empower people to take a more proactive approach to their health. Jim tells us: “Our purpose is really to help people take charge of their health by unlocking the power of personalised nutrition. We’d like to see personalised nutrition and gut health at the heart of global healthcare. Our part in this is to develop and manufacture bestin-class diagnostic products that enable fast, accurate and reliable insights.” Always researching new techniques and testing the latest scientific developments, the team doesn’t stand still. Supplying its products to laboratories in 63 countries, hundreds of thousands of Omega Diagnostics’ tests are processed every year. Jim says: “In the UK alone, over 3,000 professional clinicians use our tests with patients. Tests are also popular with elite athletes and international sports teams, including Premiership football clubs, Olympians and anyone passionate about performing to their highest potential.” At present, Omega Diagnostics offers three core products: Food Detective®, FoodPrint®, and Gut Detective®. Food Detective® is an ELISA-based test (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) carried out in a clinic by qualified health professionals. The test requires only a pin-prick blood sample, detecting antibodies in 59 common foods and identifying food-specific IgG reactions associated with food sensitivity in just 40 minutes. By quickly pinpointing foods that may be provoking symptoms, the approach offers a faster alternative to traditional trial-anderror methods. FoodPrint®, Omega Diagnostics’flagship product, uses stateof-the-art microarray technology and is revolutionising food sensitivity testing. The test can be collected either at home or in a clinic, making it even more accessible. FoodPrint®’s advanced system offers qualitative analysis of food-specific IgG antibody levels for up to 222 different foods. By using a 3D surface area to bind antigens, a smaller sample volume is required. Each sample is tested twice and ensures accuracy and produces results that are even more detailed than other testing methods. Omega Diagnostics’ commitment to accessibility ensures that reports generated by the testing are customisable and user-friendly. The company also provides a comprehensive FoodPrint® training and support system to laboratories and practitioners. Gut Detective®, a comprehensive stool biomarker panel, is used by practitioners to investigate gut health, including inflammation, digestive enzyme production and intestinal permeability. The non-invasive solution helps create a detailed picture of a patient’s digestive health, uncovering potential causes of persistent symptoms that may not show up on routine tests. As Omega Diagnostics continues to grow its business both at home and abroad, the company is currently working on an In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation (IVDR) programme, which, once complete, is set to provide the company with a significant market advantage.
