Professor Patel is a global pioneer in implementation of minimal access surgery for prostate, bladder and kidney cancers, including Robotic Surgery within several units including the Section of Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery at University of Rochester Medical Centre (URMC), Rochester New York.

Professor Patel is Editor-in-Chief of the World Journal of Oncology, and undertakes research in prostate, bladder and kidney cancer diagnostics and treatments.
