Our centre opened in 2003 and services the whole of Dumfries and Galloway but, when space permits, we will take in dogs from pounds further afield to save them from destruction. We rehomed our 400th dog in 2018. We hold the contract for caring for our local authority strays and rehoming them if not claimed. As members of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes, we have been inspected and comply with their Codes of Practice. We have a non-destruction policy, we neuter all our dogs at an appropriate age and all are health-checked by veterinary professionals. We vet prospective new homes carefully and provide back-up and support post-adoption. An army of volunteers run our five charity shops which provide the greater part of our operational funding. Our staff are well trained and keep up to date with modern behaviour theory, enabling them to help dogs in need of rehabilitation.
