Dr. Sidrah Muntaha DClinPsych, CPsychol, AFBPsS, HCPC, BAMT; is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and regulated by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). In addition, she is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and an Associate Member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT).
Sidrah has specialist experience in working with complex mental health issues including Psychosis, Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviour. With over 20 years of experience in the NHS, Sidrah is currently a Lead Clinical Psychologist for an in-patient learning disability ward in NHS North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT). She also has a private practice in South Woodford, London.
Sidrah has a special interest in music and has developed a preliminary model of Music-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-Music) (Muntaha, in press) which she has applied with south Asian women presenting with Anxiety and Depression. She has developed Trust-wide music workshops for staff in NELFT, and is currently adapting the CBT-Music model for the in-patient learning disability service in NELFT.
Sidrah has a keen interest in using Indian and Bangladeshi classical music performances as part of wellbeing projects or initiatives to promote positive social change. She has performed for Change of Arts Festival in memory of Jo Cox MP at Amnesty International, London as well as recently presented/sang a psychoanalytic interpretation of a Bangladeshi folk song for a mental health service user group. Sidrah has appeared in local television and radio channels as guest speaker on mental health issues, and believes that in order to reach hard-to-engage communities, psychological practitioners need to draw on music, arts and creativity to make psychological concepts and treatment more accessible.
