Social Care Awards 2024

16 GHP Social Care Awards 2024 Founded in 1998 by Hywel Griffiths, physiotherapy and sports medicine clinic Therapyworks Ltd is living proof that therapy does indeed work, and as a result, it is known across South Wales for delivering excellence in both of these focus areas. With a client base consisting of members from several elite sporting organisations, national sports teams, branches of government, and even some of the most famous blue chips around, the business prides itself on an ability to provide an unmatched service, leveraging an experienced team to offer a world-class service to clients. We speak with Hywel to learn more about his award-winning clinic. Delivering a range of exemplary services that are modelled on an individual basis around the singular needs, dreams, and aspirations of its loyal and dedicated patients, Therapyworks operates atop of more than 25 years of experience in this space, and as such, the systems used by the team have been created, honed, and perfected over the years. The result of this, as Hywel describes, is that “customised plans are developed with specialist multi-disciplinary support added as needed to ensure the best outcomes are achieved.” After all, in the realm of elite-level sport, one would never be forced to settle for a onesize-fits-all approach, and Hywel believes that the same should be true of all his clients. Any good physiotherapist, or other health professional for that matter, recognises that the key to getting better is to treat the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms. Many of Therapyworks’ clients seek out the business’ services as they are fed up with either not knowing what is wrong, being added to seamlessly never-ending waiting lists, becoming dependent on the tablets they are given to manage the pain, or, perhaps most frequently, all of the above. Determined to remedy this, Hywel and his staff utilise such tools as their 3D head-to-toe assessment to create custom plans and provide other such drug-free solutions. By not taking anything for granted and always going that extra mile to leave clients with a smile on their faces, this team have been able to successfully stay afloat in an industry that has experienced tremendous operational and financial challenges over the past several years. Commenting further on this, Hywel tells us, “innovation is key to survive and thrive, and this is something that we are keen to lead in [our] delivery of cutting-edge, cost-effective added value in our service delivery.” When this is combined with a stellar company culture, communication that is on point, a sustainable approach to all things commercial, and outstanding clinical delivery, the excellence that is strived for can be seen at every turn. Such excellence is embodied daily by the team, with Hywel describing Therapyworks as a “small, agile team of professionals who understand that our culture leads our performance.” From regular team meetings to discussing feedback from clients and setting strategic targets, on top of other such weekly, monthly, and quarterly incentives and themes, Hywel recognises that the desired excellence starts and ends with his staff, so by putting them in a great place physically and mentally, they are able to work to the very best of their ability. For Hywel, “we value our staff, and we love what we do!”, and it this fantastic combination that has contributed measurably to the business winning this award. A proud Welsh company, even as Therapyworks enters its 26th year of operation, Hywel and co. remain enamoured with the country and all of its innate beauty, and they relish the opportunity to help get these local clients back on track to living their best lives, moving and feeling infinitely better as they explore the breathtaking countryside and coastline that is synonymous with this small, beautiful country. Excited to continue to deliver specialist services that have never before been undertaken in the region, including concussion management, fall prevention, and injury prevention, the future looks incredibly bright for Hywel and the team as 2024 rolls on. As a business that is comprised of a team of sports medicine experts who provide excellent services through their individually tailored assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation programmes, Therapyworks Ltd continues to stand as a beacon of greatness in the region and the field, maintaining these high standards even after almost 30 successful years. With this in mind, it is our privilege to name the company as the Pain Management & Physiotherapy Clinic of the Year 2024 for Wales.
