This extensive education now enables Michaela Huber to serve as a psychologist, licensed psychological psychotherapist, supervisor, and a trainer in trauma treatment. Following her university studies, Michaela has built a remarkable career in psychotherapy, trauma treatment, and advocacy, beginning with her position as an editor at Psychologie Heute, a psychology journal, between 1978-1983. In 1989, she established herself as a psychotherapist in Kassel, a role she continues to fulfil today. Throughout the 1980s, she played a key role in initiating the first women’s shelters and advocating for improved living conditions for women nationally and internationally. In 1998, she co-founded the Centre for Psychotraumatology Kassel e.V. and, in the following years, helped to establish several other psychotrauma centres, including TraumaHilfeZentrum München. 2020 saw Michaela founding the Federal Working Group for Needsbased Emergency Aid, also known as BAGbN. This organisation operates today’s largest online self-help group for those impacted by stress and trauma. BAGbN primarily advocates for the right of clients, especially for women in destructive relationships and complexly traumatised children and adolescents, with regard to sufficient therapeutic care. In keeping with this, the academy offers discounts for students, trainees, parents on leave, retirees, and unemployed individuals looking to expand their horizons. With upcoming seminars focused on trauma processing, narcissism and attachment trauma, the chain of effect, long-term trauma, and how stress can divide, students of the MH Academy and Practice are poised for an upcoming year of education and empowerment.
