Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards 2026

20 GHP Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Awards 2026 Aesthetics, when done properly, is about so much more than just appearances. From instilling confidence to uncovering identity and helping people feel like themselves again, these treatments have the power to revitalise, restore, and renew. Somebody who is well aware of this is Dr Effie Flourentzou, a GP and aesthetics practitioner who owns Epitomi Aesthetics in Surrey. For more on her doctor-led aesthetics clinic in Epsom, we had the pleasure of speaking with Dr Effie. The aesthetics clinic founded and run by Dr Effie in has been shaped by her medical background, with her focus being on long-term skin health and regenerative treatments over simple quick fixes. Working with patients who seek natural, subtle results paired with a plan for the longevity of their skin, many of those Dr Effie welcomes into her clinic feel as though their skin has changed, be it due to ageing, menopause, or any other factors, and they are looking for honest guidance on how to actually make a difference. Helping people to recognise themselves again requires doing what is right for that patient, even if it means recommending an alternative route or refusing treatment altogether. This is why consultations are a big part of what Dr Effie does, as it is here where she takes the time to educate patients, clearly explain their options, and get to the root of why they are looking for an aesthetic treatment. “There’s never pressure to go ahead”, Dr Effie told us, “and I think patients really feel that.” The purpose of all of this is to build trust, something seen further through the core values of honesty, patient safety, and doing the right thing that underpin every treatment delivered at Epitomi Aesthetics. As a result of this, most of the growth the clinic has experienced has come from word of mouth, which says a lot in an industry where patients are cautious and becoming more informed every year. Discussing this growth and the reasons behind it, Dr Effie explained: “I believe what makes Epitomi Aesthetics different is that it truly sits within healthcare, not beauty.” Being a GP, Dr Effie looks at the full picture (skin, health, lifestyle, hormones) not isolated concerns. This also means she has a unique focus on improving the quality of the skin over time, as opposed to relying on treatment volume alone. “Patients often tell me they feel reassured by the honesty of the consultation and the fact that I don’t over-treat. That trust and long-term approach is really what sets the clinic apart.” Continuing to stand as a beacon of trust and longevity when it comes to the delivery of these natural aesthetic treatments in Surrey is one of Dr Effie’s top priorities, and she remains dedicated to striking a balance between expanding her services but remaining a small, patient-focused, quality-first clinic. To this end, she has been introducing a number of new treatments into Epitomi Aesthetics’ regenerative treatment portfolio, including exosomes, polynucleotides, and, recently, Neogen (nitrogen plasma) treatments. Dr Effie has also been working towards CQC registration, which she hopes to achieve so that her clinic can offer the same level of certified governance and safety that her patients would expect of any healthcare setting. This is also an example of the ongoing commitment to patient education touched on earlier, with Dr Effie working tirelessly to help her patients make informed decisions. In the largely unregulated world of aesthetics, where the standards are at best inconsistent and patients are often left confused, this is key. Exploring this further, Dr Effie commented: “I do think the industry is shifting, and patients are actively seeking out medically-led clinics they can trust. That’s exactly where I position myself.” This is demonstrably the case, as not only do patients come back to Epitomi Aesthetics, they also refer their friends and family, telling them that they feel more confident in their skin. For Dr Effie, this is what matters most. Winning this award is incredibly meaningful. It really reflects that patient trust and the relationships I’ve built over the past two years.” As she continues to develop the clinic as a space where the highest medical standards combine with advanced aesthetic treatments, not to mention expanding her regenerative treatment options and refining patient pathways to ensure everyone can access a clear, personalised plan for their skin, Dr Effie is also thinking long term. The aim, she said, is for Epitomi Aesthetics to be recognised as a centre for natural, regenerative aesthetics and wellness right across Surrey and South East England.
