The Naval Hospital closed, and 1996 saw Dr. Cruz deploy to Guam in 1996 to fulfill her commitment to the U.S. Navy. Serving as a Staff Internist at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Guam, Dr. Cruz received the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal in addition to the Humanitarian Service Medal and National Defense Medal for her services. Then, Dr. Cruz started working at Estrella Gastroenterology in Goodyear, Arizona, in January 2007 before starting her own clinic, Dr. Liz Cruz Partners in Digestive Health, in January 2008.
