Indeed, the development of this method of genome editing earned Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2020 for their pioneering work in the field, the first two women to achieve this honour. As for CBE itself, its dedicated team of academics and medical professionals have been able to identify CRISPR-Cas9 and its genome editing capabilities as a soon- to-be defining pillar of medical research and healthcare. It is predicted that the value of the CRISPR genome editing market could grow to a staggering $1,654.2 million by 2023, from $685.5 million in 2016, thus contributing to the response to a growing need for more advanced healthcare systems across the globe. Life Changing Education Empowered by its extensive resources and cutting-edge research, CBE has moved into the field of education, creating an ecosystem of learning that helps scientists, students and researchers to gain extensive insight into how CRISPR-Cas9 can overcome common and devastating conditions. To that end, CBE expanded its mission to include plans to devise pathways through an in-depth training course that would give users knowledge on how to design their own CRISPR experiments, as they gained insights into creating a broad range of unique sequences and tools required for the process. Students and interested individuals of all backgrounds would be able to access these insights and understand the entire evolution of CRISPR-Cas9 and its applications, benefits, and points of debate. CBE is striving to create an environment in which both privileged and underprivileged individuals can be involved in the conversation into the evolution of gene therapy and its research. Consequently, CBE has moved into the online education sector, having launched several widely acclaimed and well-curated CPD accredited educational programmes, complete with seminars in advanced biosciences, skill up gradation, and strategy planning for career advancement and success. The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic has only accelerated CBE’s transition into the spheres of online education and software- based learning platforms, primarily owing to the pandemic’s disruption of traditional learning methods. The loss of classroom-based learning for schools and universities has meant that students have not only been forced to quickly adjust to new methods of study, but has also meant that students have had less access to updates and developments within the scientific sectors and fewer means to keep their skills and knowledge honed and relevant. This has been a particularly worrying phenomenon in areas with a less privileged population, which are barred access to resources by high prices and accessibility that is limited to more expensive hardware or technology. CBE is changing this, having launched its own e-learning platforms that are flexible, accessible, reasonably priced, and meticulously created by a team of experts and world- class academics.
