Vision Engineering Ltd has been design- ing and manufacturing high quality ergo- nomic microscopes, digital instruments, inspection and non-contact measuring systems for over 60 years. The company was established in 1958 by Rob Freeman a race mechanic with the Jaguar racing team, who developed a borescope for inspecting internal race engines without the need for disassembly. Subsequently he formed Vision Engineering Ltd as a means of developing his interest in optics applied to technology. Rob Freeman’s legacy continues today in Vision Engineering’s brand values. With a philosophy of design innovation, Vision Engineering holds world patents for a number of optical/digital techniques, significantly improving viewing ergonomics and enabling customer quality and productivity improvements. Vision Engineering prides itself on quality products, electronics, mechanics and optics and is certified for the quality manage- ment system ISO 9001:2015. Quality is as important to Vision Engineering as their customers. Vision Engineering systems have proved themselves many times over and these are chosen by the world’s best companies. Vision Engineering has design and manufacturing facilities in the UK and USA, plus sales and support offices throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Far East. Their customers are also supported by expert technical and service employees globally. 25 years ago, Vision Engineering introduced the world’s first ‘eye- piece-less’ stereo microscope, the Mantis. It was an ergonomic revolution that went on to win numerous design and innovation awards. Since then, Mantis has been significantly updated into a family of products and remains a leader in the stereo microscope market. The Freeman Building - global HQ opened in 2017 in Send, Surrey on the site of the original company building Nissen Hut – Vision Engineering’s first premises.
