4 With 40 years’ worth of diving trips behind him, Alun Evans helps to lead Red Sea Elite Diving with all the experience needed to ensure a successful dive. This multi-award-winning dive centre was established by Alun and his wife Moyra 20 years ago to achieve a shared mission and ten years ago they were joined by one of their sons, whose name is Gwyn, known as just G, to add some youth into the mix and to grant only the best diving adventures to create memories that last a lifetime. We spoke with Alun and Moyra Evans as the dedicated and exciting company is awarded in GHP’s Active Lifestyle Awards 2025. Red Sea Elite Diving is a boutique diving centre with a difference. It provides scuba diving experiences, for scuba diving experts and students alike, as its multifaceted offerings help people to make the most of their adventures. From diving specialists to learners, the centre and its team continue to offer only the best opportunities to experience the Red Sea at its best. From beginners to instructor level, Elite Diving has a roster of courses to satisfy all of its guests’ needs. Alun shared: “We lead Scuba Tours around world class reefs around the Sharm El Sheikh area in South Sinai Peninsula, North of The Red Sea. We regularly Visit Ras Mohamed National Park which is the first National Park in Egypt to cover both land and sea. We also regularly visit The Straits of Tiran, where we dive four reefs which start from very deep, and span all the way up to the surface.” The corals within these areas are nourished by regular currents which consistently feed the reefs, resulting in pristine coral reefs and the ideal habitat for all sea creatures which can be seen during every scuba diving excursion. Moyra commented: “The most popular dive site for Advanced divers is SS Thistlegorm. A World War Two wreck casualty, that was sunk by enemy fire back in 1941. This must be one of the best wrecks in the world, as there is so much cargo still there, captured like a time capsule from a bygone age.” Constantly differentiating themselves from competitors in its area, Elite Diving is a family-run business with a family feel throughout its entire team, especially as Moyra, Alun, and their son G keep everything running smoothly. Alun said: “We all came to Sharm together on diving holidays, the first one as a family being in 1998, and myself several times before that, so we understand what the recreational diver is looking for in a service provider. We have twenty two permanent staff, so we are small enough to care but big enough to deliver for individuals, couples, and groups.” Prioritising the needs of their guests, while nurturing their team of office staff, boat staff, ground crew, and dive professionals which are led by G, Elite Diving makes sure to provide the best environment for a shared vision. Of course, there are challenges in every industry but Elite Diving continues to thrive with the experience it has behind it. Alun shared: “I feel my past experiences and training in team leading and management in different fields and industries has helped me to form a successful operation. We have been operating for twenty years as a Dive centre, and I have been a recreational diver since 1984 myself, which is over 40 years, and the dive centre and myself as an individual have won many awards. That speaks volumes, just as loud as the retention level or repeat clients that return time and time again speaks. “What we have endeavoured to do to improve our business is making sure all the team provide a high level of service with integrity and conscientiousness. It’s the quality of service is our main priority, success and profit will follow if the service level is put ahead of everything.” Always approaching any challenge with positivity, Elite Diving turns these potential difficulties into windows for opportunities. Moyra enthused: “We make sure to maintain decency in anything and everything we do.
