Emma provides more information on the home’s facilities and the residents it cares for. “At the New Grange, we support a wide range of residents; our youngest resident is 70 years old and our eldest will be 106 this year. Our longest resident has been living with us for 16 years. They also heavily invest in staff training to ensure the staff are confident and capable to carry out their job to the best of their ability, as Emma is eager to emphasise. “Fundamentally, we feel that good team work helps us provide the highest quality of personalized care to our residents. The staff are understanding and supportive of each other’s important roles, which as a result brings job satisfaction. We have a very low staff turnover and our longest member of staff has been working for the New Grange for 15 years. When we recruit, we predominantly obtain new staff through recommendation, and we have a robust recruitment policy and induction to ensure that new staff are appropriately trained and feel confident before they start work.” Looking ahead, there are even have further plans to improve the environment, to ensure excellence for residents and peace of mind for their families, as Emma proudly concludes. “Moving forward, at the New Grange we plan to extend the communal areas to give the residents a brighter environment with more space for the residents. Alongside this, we are currently looking into electronic care planning to see if this is something that we are investigating.
