The carton and leaflet manufacturing site was established over 20 years ago on Deeside Industrial Park and in 2013 was re-located to a new unit, doubling the footprint of the factory. That move was part of a wider £3m investment which has seen Chester take delivery of new a new Bobst glue line and die-cutter and place an order for a new Komori Lithrone six colour carton press. The site is PS9000 registered and services the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Healthcare markets exclusively. This focus even extends to Digital Print, and Chester are one of the only packaging suppliers in the UK to hold PS9000 for the digital printing of cartons and leaflets. Last year, Chester became the first UK carton manufacturer to offer fully validated digital printing of braille on cartons. “There are few carton suppliers with the experience we have in digital. We have been printing digitally for seventeen years and now have three presses producing cartons complete with digital braille. We are able to apply a gloss UV varnish or aqueous coating, to provide the closest possible match to litho cartons. This is particularly important for the Pharma sector due to concerns with counterfeiting.” Tammy credits the very close working relationship that Chester Medical Solutions fosters with its customers for its ability to stay at the forefront of any emerging trends. The carton site already has the capability to offer a variety of anti-counterfeit measures, including tamper evident cartons, security varnishes, micro-typing and variable data printing. “For us, digital printing isn’t a theoretical or experimental thing.
