GHP / June 2017 21 Inclusion.Me Sees Increasing Demand for Occupational Therapy Services g • Extensions, new builds and complex adaptation project management. Our clients can select the most appropriate, cost effective and creative solutions for their needs and benefit from our expertise. What is your firm’s overall mission and what steps do you take to achieve this? Our mission is to provide accessible services that are underpinned by dignity and empowerment. We aim to: 1. Apply ‘universal design’, maximising usability of facilities for all without neglecting the importance of aesthetic. 2. Ensure the provision of high quality assessments and interventions for all service sectors. 3. Provide access to expert therapists, to maximise functional independence and choice. 4. Act as a centre of excellence for knowledge and innovation in practice. 5. Ensure maximisation of Service User involvement in relation to service provision. Our award-winning reputation is founded on our provision of reliable assessments and analysis of functional ability by our network of knowledgeable, expert occupational therapists. Working in such a vital sector, what techniques do you employ to ensure that you always offer the very best service? Our occupational therapist experts have extensive skills and knowledge in fieldwork, specialist assessments for equipment and adaptations and complex problem/resolution roles and are taken through a stringent registration process prior to working with Inclusion.Me. They are all members of the College of Occupational Therapy (COT). In addition to one or more of the colleges’ specialist sections, they are all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), hold their own professional indemnity insurance (alongside our own) as well as an annual clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Our occupational therapists also maintain a commitment to Continual Professional Development and we provide regular supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training sessions such as our Care Act training days which are held by leading speakers such as Michael Mandelstam for our therapists and staff. How do you integrate technology into your work? Are there any specific areas of your service offering which are automated and how does this improve your Firm’s efficiency? We currently use a bespoke and secure cloud-based database system for case management and performance monitoring purposes. We can manage high volumes of client referrals and case management through these systems, which offers us a flexible case management system designed for occupational therapists within the care industry. The system streamlines day-to-day tasks such as the entry and storage of clinical notes, timesheets, expenses and invoicing. What is your firm’s internal culture and how do you work to ensure that everyone in your organisation performs to the best of their abilities? As managing director, I’ve worked for over 20 years in occupational therapy fieldworker and management roles. I’m a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists as well as the College of Occupational Therapists in Independent Practice section. Our business ethos and principles are built upon a belief in the intrinsic values of Inclusive Design, the social model of disability and a client-centred approach always. We also believe that accessible should not necessitate a compromise in aesthetics or quality of life. Unfortunately, from our experience, this can often be the case in the frequently grey and disabling commercial market place. Inclusion.Me currently has a network of over forty sub- contracted occupational therapists across the UK. With current expansions plans in mind, we anticipate having a total of 60-80 UK-based associates by the end of 2017. Our award-winning team includes occupational therapy managers and Senior Practitioners, Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Assessors and our office administrators and accounting team.
